Angry [SoC] Game randomly locking up

I've been attempting to play SoC lately and I've had a very annoying problem. I've checked around the forum a bit for a few days now, but I cannot find any solution or a problem that sounds like what I've been experiencing. I bought the game during Steam's new years sale for $2, but never got around to playing it until lately.

When I first started playing I played for around an hour and a half without any problems (or I was just lucky), but the next day when I played my game would randomly show a flash of green in some shaded areas of the screen and then freeze. Most times I have to manually shut off my computer as I can't get into task manager to shut down the game (so, no error logs). There are some times when the game recovers from the lock ups, the screen goes black, monitor stops receiving input then input starts back up and I can go back to playing until it does it again (usually within minutes). It also does this in the main menu and options menu, not only while in game. When the game does run, I can run it maxed out smoothly.

Some things I've tried to fix the problem (what I can remember off the top of my head)
-Different resolutions, changed other options settings
-Updated video card driver
-Updated audio driver (unsure if this was the best driver)
-Updated DirectX
-Different compatibility settings, run as administrator
-Reinstall
-Removed overclock

My rig
Windows 7 64-bit
Intel i7 930
Nvidia 8800 GT
Gigabyte X58A-UD3R
4GB DDR3

My comp does the same. Got ati card so vpu-recover just restarts the gpu and all is fine again. So I just guessed it's my card running out of memory, usually during changes in weather or approaching densely populated areas. It's not a big problem for me and I have just assumed it's my lack of horsepower.
This does not happen frequently on SoC but more on CS and CoP.

Just occured to me it could be due to having only 400W powersource. Might be the card doesn't get the juice it needs in even flow. Having a too low powersource has a tendency to make stuff wobbly too. It's often the weakest link in the machine.

Stalker is the only game I have an issue with. I run games like Battlefield Bad Company 2 perfectly fine maxed out. I've got a 650w power supply (I had a 400w before I upgraded my system, never really had an issue), so I find it unlikely to be related to that, especially since it does it before I even load up a game save in the main menu.

Well, I was uninstalling/reinstalling some drivers and when trying to play without an audio driver I actually got more play time in than usual. I had two instances of the lock up, first time it recovered (I was in Lab X18, or whatever), and the second I had just finished loading into the Garbage and began shooting at a bandit. The second time locked up like normal, then crashed to desktop, so I got a log. Not sure if it's any help, but here it is.

I had to cut about the first half of the log to make it fit.

I got rid of my lockups by shutting down overclocking. I had just became mad enough and thought it was because I had updated gpu-drivers and that the new ones were crud. Then I remembered that Bad_Motha (I think) had said stalker don't play well with overclocking and decided to check if mine was still running. Turns out upgrading catalyst had turned on my old oc-settings. I turned it off and lo and behold, smooth as a flesh's bottom. Seems my oc choked the system... only on stalker.

Yeah, when scanning through the forums I did read about that. Unfortunately it didn't help my situation. I'll put that on my list of attempted fixes. I'm out of ideas.
