TF2 Stuck on Sending Client Info -> STEAM validation rejected

Whenever I start up TF2 and join a server, the game hangs on Sending client info, which I can then cancel. However, for about 5-10 minutes after doing so, I can't join any server at all because it says "STEAM validation rejected". It doesn't make me unable to play, but it's very annoying.

Any ideas?

Only after waiting for the steam validation to get reset (?) and trying again.

Just try connecting to another server, cancel then go back and try to re-join. Works for me usually.

I have this problem, made a thread before i looked

The exact some problem, had it for a few months now. Yes there is the option of joining other servers but what if my friend(s) is on the server that says "Steam validation rejected"

Just to see if our problem is connected in anyway;
What isp are you with?
What type of router?
Dynamic or Static IP address?

Anything else you can think of?

This is temporary, but it should be a nice quick(TEMPORARY) fix. You have to do it every time you start the game, though.

Start an offline practice server. You should get a "steam validation rejected".
Join any online server at this point. It should work.

I get the same problem on one computer, I think it's something to do with the router. I always have to disconnect on the joining screen when it gets to "sending client info" the first time round and have done for the past two years.

I get a similar problem, but the differences are:

-It also happens on the "Retrieving server info..." phase.
-There's no "STEAM validation rejected" messages.
-I can't stop the attempt to join the server once it freezes, only shut down the game itself.
-It only happens on some servers.

And this is all on a fresh Windows 7 reinstall, too, so I have no idea what could be causing it.
