I made a video!

Sorry if posting this is against the rules but it's one of the earlier videos I've done with a commentary and I kind of want to know what people think. I'd really appreciate some constructive criticism. Quick warning, I swear a lot in the video due to my EXTREMELY low tolerance for horror.

If you're too lazy to watch the video, I seriously suggest you try the demo now or even better, just pre-order it immediately.

Thank you.

Ok I watched the video almost entirely (skipped some parts) but here are some tips:

The video quality was nice. HD quality would have been even more awesome but this was fine

The contrast seems to a bit too high in your videos, too bright I mean and since this is a horror game the contrast is a pretty important thing.

EDIT: Here's my example video that has in my opinion a bit better level of contrast for this game http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mXw05oE3yfg

Your voice was very clear and nice. The volume was right at the perfect level, so you could hear the ingame sounds as well as your commentary.

Anyways, a nice video, keep it up

Thanks mate. I understand what you mean about the brightness, I'll lower it next time.

A quick question about your video, what resolution is it? I tried my best to get a 720x480 video but it still gave me the annoying black bars at the side. What resolution did you record at and what resolution would I render at if I want 480p?

Bear in mind that my monitor has a max res of 1440x900.

Also, I can't really do any 720p videos because my internet connection can't handle uploading them.

I recorded that video in 1280x720 resolution and also uploaded it in that resolution, giving the 720p HD quality video.

I'm assuming that you'd get the 480p video without the black borders if you recorded in 16:9 resolution (such as 1280x720) and just resized it to be in a bit lower resolution (but in same ratio, 16:9). That way you should get 16:9 video that will be uploaded as 480p in widescreen.

Not sure about that though (never done that myself) so you might want to ensure that by doing some google researching :P

edit: I think that if you upload a video that has 856x480 resolution, youtube should give you widescreen 480p quality.

Loved it man
Great job, the sound was crystal clear and it was actually fun to listen. I just played the demo before watching it and stopped at the same spot cause it was just too much for me xD
I'm planning to buy the game, but I doubt I'll play it much. weird that, me being a sucker for horror stuff and yet such a coward :3

It's a good video. I was surprised by how many LPs of the demo there are already on youtube. Hopefully that means the game will do well, so Frictional can keep doing what they do.

I preordered already, based upon how good Penumbra was. The demo simply confirmed that I made a good choice.

I think I'll be the same. I've bought horror games in the past, played an hour of them and loved it but just been unable to continue due to me having a borderline pathetic tolerance for scary things.

I'll try recording in 1280x720 next time. I recorded and uploaded that in 720x480 which I think is 16:10. It's just strange because in Adobe Premiere and Windows Live Movie Maker 480p is 720x480, so I thought that would fit perfectly in the youtube box. Thanks for your help.

I'd love to preorder it but I don't have the money right now so I'll probably be getting it about a week after release. I uploaded that video this morning (although I made it before the demo was even out on Steam) and this morning there was already a huge amount of Amensia videos. I was very surprised.
