360 controller with ARMA 2?

It's not too easy for me to fly using mouse and keyboard so i was wondering if it's possible to use my 360 controller.

Sorry if this has been discussed. I just bought ARMA II and i suck at flying planes. If it's possible please tell me how.

Also, in the editor how do you rotate objects. I tried setting an A-10 on the runway but it wasn't facing the right direction.

what about using a joystick? Anyhow, not sure what benefit there would be to using a 360 controller...

As to rotating objects in the editor; click on it, then hold the ctl-shift key and move your mouse. It rotates the object. Sometimes its a bit finicky but if you play with it a bit you'll get used to it. You can also set facing in the attributes of the object, but I prefer the first method.

Yeah, just hold shift and move your mouse.

and also, like serf said, much better to use a joystick.

Thanks guys. Also, i don't own a flight stick except the one that came with Ace Combat 6 for 360. If that one will work then i'll try it. Thanks for the help.

The xbox controller is epic if used with track IR. If you don't have track ir stick to mouse

I need to be able to invert the look for infantry with the controller. Is this possible?

Ugh. I was surprised to see on the store page that these games advertised supporting controllers. I've been looking for a military FPS that allows for controllers on my PC, and I've been eyeing these for awhile, so when I noticed that ArmA2/OA supports them I bought both games right away.

It appears that they didn't put a lot of effort into implementing this feature, and it's been a pain to use. Can't even invert the controls, and it overall feels unpolished (regarding the controller aspect). Just an FYI for future ppl. There are a lot of PC gamers who simply want the choice to use a gamepad, even if they don't use them all the time. I don't see why in 2010/11, such a small addition can't be implemented correctly in military FPS. Plenty of other games (LFD, TF2, Borderlands, etc) do it just fine.

I have been using a xbox 360 controller exclusively when i fly in ARMA 2 and it works amazingly well. It takes just a little bit to get everything set up correctly for control mapping, and also getting it comfortable, but the end product is really nice.

Yes I agree it works fine in helicopters, I should have mentioned I was referring to when on foot. It's unplayable with a controller while on foot, mostly because you cannot invert the look.

Do you use inverted look? If so, how? If not, you're lucky!

In the old days (90's) all games (that I played, anyways) were inverted out of the box. I even played some old Metroid Prime the other day, and "standard" was inverted. Only recently has look inversion been the 2nd choice.

Ah well, I may try to get into this game anyways, but idk.

Aren't there too many buttons and actions to handle if you have a 360 controller?

For flying their isn't. It is quite easy to get everything setup and even have some buttons left over. Now for on foot I'm not sure seeing as I play with mouse and keyboard for on foot.
