Friends limit cap

The friends limit is capped at like 250 or something, and I really feel that this is way to low....

Unlimited cap would be great, does anyone else feel this way?

Do you really interact with all 250 friends? Surely there are some you can remove?

I have 223 "friends" on Steam at the moment and gonna hit the limit of 250 in next 4-8 months...

500-1000 (or 1337) limit would be cool.

Yes I do, and I have friends on other peoples friends list so I can have more... very annoying!

Even if you do interact with all 250 friends often, which I personally doubt, you're about the only one who can and that doesn't warrant raising the current cap.

I'm not the only one who reached this cap and wants it to be raised!

All I'm saying is there are people who want this raised and why not? Is there a real reason?

I remember a Valve employee stating a few reasons. The two I can remember were that the percentage of users who have reached the cap is very low in comparison to the total Steam userbase and that increasing it puts more load on the servers because of all the updates friends give each other (status, blotter, etc.).

It would allow much better game play, I mean I have like 225 friends right now, lets say....

100 are online, of those 100 50 are playing games, of those 50 25 are playing the game I'm playing of those 25 5 are not in a game at the moment... I can't even fill a left 4 dead lobby?

even a limit of 500 would help a lot!!!

Maybe you could look for some groups of l4d gamers, for example?

And I can't imagine how stressful it must be to chat with 250 people every couple of days

I had over 150, only spoke to 12 of them, deleted the ones that have not been online for ages and ones I never speak to.

I have less than 15 friends now
