[Bug] No sound in full version

Wrote the same thing at the Carpe Fulgor forums, figured I might as well post this here too:

Hi everyone!

I just downloaded Recettear from Steam and I don't get any sound anymore (as opposed to the demo, where sound worked just fine).
Here's some info:
*Windows 7 x64 Pro, DirectX is up-to-date
*Realtek High Defintion Audio @ 44.1khz, 16bit; updated to newest drivers, didn't help
*Recettear isn't muted in SndVol
*I get sound from the opening video when I wait for it in the main menu
*fiddling around the volume levels in game doesn't do anything
*the .wav files in /bgm play just fine
*Steam file verification says everything is o.k.
*removed the game and re-downloaded, didn't help
*trying to run the game in compatibility mode gives me an error referring to lnkdatas.bin
*Using the XP VM that comes with Windows 7 Pro I can start the game with minimum settings. I won't get graphics, but the sound starts, voices and everything.

Any ideas? Please?

Try running the game in administrator mode (right click the EXE in the game directory, properties, compatibility settings, run as administrator) and let us know what happens.

Same problem here, also Win7 64 Pro.
Maybe it doesn't work on 64bit?

Works on my Win7 x64. Do you have ffdshow or any codec packs installed?

Yep, I have a codec pack installed. Never had a problem concerning stuff like this. I'm pretty confused.

Restarting Steam didn't work either.
Maybe it has something to do with my soundcard (ASUS Xonar D1) not being compatible with DX 8.1 (I don't know if it is). No idea.

For those with the Asus Xonar series of cards, open up the Xonar Control panel, and disable "GX" under DSP. that caused me to not have sound with a Xonar DX.
