" CD Key authentication invalid for internet servers."

Is anyone else getting this message? Every time I run TF2 and try to connect to a sever, even making my own local sever, the game stops and gives this "CD Key authentication invalid for internet servers."

Restart Steam. happened to me when there was an update. Has a strange tendency to not bother updating until you restart.

If that doesn't work... Then I don't know.

Just happened to me. The game menu said "Welcome, unknown", showed no userpic and recent achievements. I guess the game didn't pass authentication for some reason, probably bad connection I'm having right now. Restarting helped.

Check your PMs, ee9. I've sent you an explanation, not sure if it's allowed to post it here. :P

No, it wasn't a cracked game or anything, just a very bad lag spike. Restart steam or reboot, either is ok.

I'm necro-ing this thread to say that this bug happened to me today. And that restarting steam fixed it properly.
