Netbook
So i just found out that I cracked the screen on my wife's Dell Mini 9 just a few days before school starts. I need to get her a new one ASAP.
I really haven't been keeping up with the netbooks lately. Can anyone suggest one $450USD or lower? It's strictly for school and internet use. |

Has an ION2 graphics card and may help her in the long run. |

Both would suit her needs just fine. I would buy the ion2 netbook if they made one with a dual core atom with ion2, i havent seen one yet, i dont know why though. i would like to upgrade from my eeepc 1000he with its intel graphics and single core atom as doing a bit of light gaming o n the run would be cool. i did manage to overclock my eeepc though through setfsb, from 1.6--->1.8. makes trackmania just barely playable 640x480 on low windowed mode haha.

I would suggest the Toshiba, but upgrade it to 4 GB (it has an extra slot and 64 Bit Windows 7 and it will speed up the whole system, although just upgrading it to 3 GB may be plenty). The Asus may have Ion 2 graphics, but it has a pitifully slow CPU. I think if your going to have a netbook, the CPU is more important than having a good GPU, because most can't handle games and most of the time, people buy netbooks for simple things like the internet, word processing etc, not gaming.
I have the Toshiba, the black version, and it seems to work quite well. It won't have the battery life of the Asus, but like I said, the CPU is leaps and bounds better than the N450, and according to Notebookecheck, it's even more powerful than than Intel's dual core Atoms like the D525/N550. BUT it's not quite as durable as the Asus. That is one draw-back. Last edited by Spirit5: 09-13-2010 at 09:24 PM. |
