The mac version of Empire at War was released by Aspyr. So most likely they wont ever be released on Steam.
edit: Forces of Corruption expansion hasn't even been released on mac. Last edited by Wako: 09-15-2010 at 11:28 PM. |

So far as I know Aspyr wants to do their own thing without Steam because they don't like Valve's pricing system.
Aspyr needs to ♥♥♥♥ off. |

Making a port and then handing it out for free to everyone who bought the pc copy isn't a very good business plan for Aspyr. And Aspyr has their own game distribution platform which is a competitor to Steam.

I bought Kotor 1 when it was on discount a few days ago and I play it using the Porting Team's Steam (PC) and it runs great on it. Also Battlefront 2 is working great, kinda slow on loading but besides that it works great.

I don't own them so I can't tell you. I could try using port them using CXZ wrapper with retail game and the result will be the same. I had Battlefront 2 on cider and it worked just like here with the Steam (PC) port

Jedi Knight II and Academy have Universal Binaries available for them.... they have also been repackaged by Aspyr for sale AFAIK. But the original Jedi Knight or Dark Forces isn't available for the Mac.

I have the Mac version of Dark Forces 1 but it was released way back with System 7 or something of the "classic" Mac OS so no good on Intel Macs running OS X - the PC version was for DOS so will probably run fine in DOSBox. There is also a mod for Jedi Academy in progress that aims to replicate it in a more modern engine: http://darkforces.jediknight.net/
We never got a Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight port however. |
