Question about Gothic and Steam
A couple of years ago I bought Gothic 3 and my computer couldn't run it. I finally bought a new computer with Windows 7 and Gothic 3 does not work. I saw on the internet that everyone with Windows 7 was having this problem with G3.
My question is: With steam, does Gothic 3 now work with Windows 7? Or will I get whatever DX issue that was coming up back then. |

Yes it does. I am playing Gothic 2 and 3 right now on Windows 7 Home Version, and I do mean the steam/valve version of Gothic 3. but you should always keep your direct X up to date for any game.
I do not know or have seen anywhere with lots of players stating they cannot play G3 on Win 7, but to any effect, it doesn't always come down to the OS why the game might not be playing for them, and for you in the past. you also must take into the account of added components such as RAM, CPU speed, graphics cards etc. I run an intel 2 Core Duo processor which works great, but I also have spent a bit of money on updating my computer every year. I always have 10 GB RAM, and any Graphics card I get always has at least the 1024 MB memory. So people know, I may spend a lot of money on my computer, but I use it all day every day without fail, and so far, even my custom built computer rivals alien ware computers, as to this, of what I am saying to do with your question. I have 3 computers all up, all connected to each other, while one runs windows XP, one Windows Vista and one Windows 7. I use win 7 the most, better operating and efficient. I recommend always making sure you have a computer that has the minimum spec's that the game asks for, otherwise you will have problems, but, with windows 7, in control panel, there is a selection for Troubleshooting. Not many people know this when they should, but that program is excellent when playing games or trying to get an older piece of software running that is no longer compatible with your OS. The Troubleshooter has options for all kinds of programs/games etc to get them to install as windows X, when your actually using windows 7. I hope this has helped you, I know I went a bit in depth with my response, but I do it to help anyone wo may have other questions along the same kind your asking. Good Luck. PS: When asking if your computer will work with a certain game, it is always a good idea to provide your computers technical specs, such as RAM, CPU and it's speed, Grapics card etc, without it, we cannot always give you an answer, but if your specs meet the minimum game requirements then yes it should run fine, and the specs can be found on valve when browsing the game's name. Have fun
