CIV 5 crash fix coming.

OK people, I think I managed to fix the crash issues in this game and I'm in the process of testing it. So sit tight this will hopefully be fixed soon.

I know a lot of you will have questions so let me say this: I work in the computer industry and started out as a programmer before moving up to software engineering, project management, consulting, etc. I was able to make the necessary changes with a hex editor, which is legal. Decompiling the code would not be the legal way to handle something like this. Though I can tell you it would be much easier than the hex editor method. I've already spoken with Firaxis support and have forwarded them the spec on what I did, and the accompanying files. So there's hope yet people, hang in there!

Wow I've never seen that coming. We and Firaxis itself have luck to have you and your will to help, I must say. Anyway, you have my most grateful thanks! Hacking FTW!

the game here runs fine in full resolution.
it's only if i change the detail settings that it crashes.

so im running it on default. so it doesn't look too good. IMHO.
which is too bad. the games still caught my full attention and rules

This looks more like driver issue to me.

I'm running game with ATI 5850 with catalyst 10.9 hotfix (not related to civ). All settings on high and 8xMSAA. Not a single crash and not seeing these texture/shader problems you have. Played 7 hours in a row yesterday without any problems. Well excluding the fact AI turns start to get bit slow in the end on larger maps but it seems to be common problem anyways

EDIT: Well your resolution is ultra high compared to mine so maybe could be related to it also. Hard to test with monitor that can't support those resolutions u using. I'm assuming its dual-monitor setup?

EDIT2: Ah there actually is some killer monitors that support those resolutions. Nice setup you have there
