Feeding on quest npcs

So I was in Kilpatrick's Bail Bonds place, when I was in need of blood, and decided that since we were alone, I'd feed in him. Now making sure I didn't kill him, I let go and left him in his stunned state. Assuming he would reset sooner or later I went about my business and came back to still find him in a stunned state. Has anyone feed on quest NPC's before? Do they reset or do they just indefinitely stay there stunned.

I think their supposed to reset but i once got stuck by feeding on him aswell so it might just be him thats bugged.
