Finished Sacred Gold - Thoughts

Just thought I'd share some thoughts here. I just finished Sacred Gold (did both Ancaria and Underworld campaigns). Overall it took me around 29 hours to finish. I played as a Battle Mage and mostly used fire spells, but definitely mixed things up and used a lot of this and that. I played Ancaria on Bronze and Underworld on Silver.

Overall, it was a fun little hack'n'slash game. Well, I shouldn't say "little" since the world was huge. I really liked how open-ended the game felt.

I must say, the combat is fun, but it does get tedious. I ended up using Water form to just run past a lot of monsters. Those tight little areas are the worst, since the spell I use most often (flame spiral) gets caught up on things. I also discovered the wonders of Fear Ward late in the game and ended up defeating many hard bosses with my somewhat under-leveled character in Underworld (I was typically 1-2 levels below the monsters... sometimes more, sometimes less). I really liked using all the different spells and noticing their uses. Some were kind of crap, though.

I don't have much interest in re-playing the game, since it definitely feels aged. I have to play in Windowed mode since my LCD gets all glitchy when playing at 1024x768 or lower. I may end up getting Sacred 2 one of these days. Are a lot of Sacred 1's problems solved? Some problems I found are:
-Too much gold; nothing to spend it on
-Spells are imbalanced. Flame spiral does fire damage *and* cold damage, making monster resistances kind of worthless.

Anyway thanks for reading

I keep looking at Sacred 2 every couple of months, forgetting the main reason I don't buy it:

The expansion to Sacred 2 (Ice&Blood) and latest patches for the game version (bringing it atm to v2.65.2.0), aren't available in my region (US).

With DeepSilver now owning the Sacred brand, and planning a Sacred 3 release (targeting consoles?), I'm not sure they're doing any more development for Sacred 2, or planning a US release of Ice & Blood or core game updates tied to Ice & Blood.
