Forget about Planet Offer, it won't be back.

About preorder, you can preorder it from a website since yesterday, but for buying it in steam I guess you'll have to wait until 14th.

No, you'll get a 50% discount whether your copy is Limited Edition or Standard Edition. Also I'm not sure about the discount if you buy the newer version (Cities XL 2011) within steam. Hope steam will handle that...

It appears that the discount is applied only if you buy the new CXL2011 from the official site, let's hope this is wrong...

Steam aren't getting the discount. You get th discount if you BOUGHT the game from steam, but it won't be on offer. Here's a copy of the email i got regarding the discount:

Quote:
Hello,

You may have already seen or read that the game Cities XL 2011 will be released October 14th on PC. Cities XL 2011 offers lots of new features and improvements requested by many gamers.

We are pleased to announce that as a Cities XL player, we offer you an exceptional 50% discount when you buy a digital copy of Cities XL 2011 in the official shop.

All you need to benefit from the 50% discount is the player key of your Cities XL game which will be asked when you order the game.
On October 14th, you will then receive your Cities XL 2011 activation key as well as a link to download the game.

All the information about this offer and about Cities XL 2011 is available on the official website:
http://www2.citiesxl.com

Yours,

The Focus Home Interactive team
I bolded the main part, also when i emailed and asked if they were going to offer the the discounted price within steam, i was told no. Also told that for the time being the game wont be offered on steam, though it may be made available at a later time.So if you want the discount, you have to buy direct from their store.

Ironically if you're in the UK it isn't even their store it takes you to, it's the Metaboli store lol

I've just received that email from FHI too, but, wait, they told you the game won't be ready on steam by the official release date?

This is what I was referring. Quote from official forums.

Hello everyone,

Some of you asked about steam availability.

The game will be available on steam on the day of the release, and the special offer will also be available.

Hope you'll enjoy it.

I had an email from them saying it wont be released on steam yet. Also there is no steam store page for the game yet either.

What the chap told me was that the only way to get the game at the discount was through the official store as you have to go through a portal site in which you have to verify you Cities XL cdkey by entering it. Apparently they can't do this for steam for some reason.

It will be released on steam, just not on the day of release which is in a few days, but he didn't say when it would be on steam. I'm guessing there was some issue with setting up for steam release beyond the discount.

Stalker had (and still has) a loyalty check to see if you own it, so we know its possible to do specific discounts on Steam. Naturally, it would have to be a Steam version.

I think it's pretty disappointing that people who own the original on Steam won't be able to get the discount for the new version on Steam. I guess I'll have to pass on it.
