Thumbs up What is a TF2 'Scam'?

i have never come across this before, what is a 'scam' in tf2? unfair trading? phishing? exploits? if its unfair trading, then people should know better, especialy when you are trading an unusual hat for an ambassador or something like that, and if it was an expolit, valve should have fixed it by now. And people know than valve will never ask people for their virtual in-game items :3

Well one scam I've heard is when trading for 5+ items. Either one person will get away with a rare item for 4 hats/weapons and leave without paying the rest, or the other person will take the first set of items and run.

there are no exploits, bugs etc that can give one an unfair advantage by abusing it. The scams on tf2 are simply about abusing the trust, lack of knowledge or lack of awareness of the trade partner.

A scam can be a lot of things in trading.

Such as a guy offers to trade another guy for lets say a camera beard for some paint.

One of them could switch out their item at the last second for something less valuable therefore scamming the other guy.

it's mostly a trade gone bad involving more than one transaction, usually for high-value hats and items.

also, the whole "i bought too much paint and i can't trade it but i'll paint your hats for you" is another form, though a lot of people are catching on to that one.
