Steam Client Beta Available - Page 4

I encountered a bug which let me stop this beta for me.

Again (the second time in the last three or four beta clients) I have a problem with the steam cloud. The first time it was with Nation Red and it deleted all of my game progress including achievements. Thx to the help of a valve employee I got everything back.

This time I encountered a problem with Everyday Genius: SquarLogic. When in the beta my progress ingame is reseted. Luckily the prgress is back when opting out of the beta. This is reproducable as the progress is again away when joing the beta.

"beta_recommendations: 1" is the cookie you need for your browser if you'll want to test recommendations there.

Funny - when I "double-click" I get my library. Why? Because I set the option to do this when I "double-click" check your settings. Community, could be the default

Don't bother editing your cookies : just add the following $_GET variable to the store url : "beta_recommendations=1"

Hmm, the top 5 recommended games for me are DLC. Out of 12 recommendations 8 are DLC. I'd like a way to turn off DLC completely, especially skin packs or simple map packs.

I can't seem to recommend any game from the "All games" tab.
Only "Recently played" works.

this happend when i opted in the beta

Trying to play Left 4 dead with friends and every now and than it disconnects me with the message

Disconnect: Server not able to authenticate user to Steam.

happend like 5 times its annoying

when i opted out of the beta the problem went away

please fix it

happens in source games in general i think

When I found this I couldn't find the beta thread (which I never find) and thought for a second I came across one of Steam's "leaked" features that you guys rarely release by accident for a short while. So I wrote a thread about it and posted screenshots. *sighs* Oh well.

I like this feature. A lot. It's essentially like iTunes Genius, but for games (Steam's own "Genius For Apps"), combined with something similar to Facebook's "Page Recommendations" (which are based on likes, while Steam's is based on a number of recommendations and number of comments on each, obviously). Right now it's a little rough (Droplitz recommended after buying Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light?

), but I know it'll get better and eventually perfect.

And I just know this will empty my wallet on a monthly basis.

suggestion: let us optionally rate games and call these "reviews" not recommendations
