[Unofficial] Uncap FPS mod
Not sure if i'm breaking any rule with this (there is a hope i won't get banned
), but at least it is related and should be useful to someone.In short: this fix will disable 30fps cap. You will get real fps that your system can handle, or fps=hz in case of Vsync=on (60, 75, 85, 120 etc). Developer said 30fps cap was necessary because otherwise physics would break horribly... I hope they overlooked something and it will be fixed in the update (if it will ever get released) - nobody from testers noticed anything wrong with physics. Now about the fix. It will: - modify MKM3DLoader.dll file (this may break EULA). A backup will be created by default. - create fps.dll file to the game folder. This file will set FPS cap to 0 (zero) when you run the game. It will not: - modify Bladekitten.exe file. - work with Atari version. Download the fix: http://www.mediafire.com/?ym4sp7smci5wq5v Download test version of the fix: http://www.mediafire.com/?5iym7pfo7a9zpqm (test version will let you choose between 0, 60 and 120 fps cap) To revert changes you may: - delete fps.dll file. - replace MKM3DLoader.dll with a backed up .bak copy. i would maybe test it if it wasn't an upx packed exe file.
if you can upload the modified MKM3DLoader.dll together with the fps.dll in a zipfile or 7-zip file, then i would maybe try it. http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/...5c9-1287359280 http://www.virustotal.com/file-scan/...a5d-1287359988 |

You can unpack it manually with
Code:
upx -d blade.kitten.steam-fps.mod.rls.exe |

Works brilliantly here. The game went from completely unplayable to buttery smooth for me (as I was getting headaches and eye pain from the 30 FPS cap). Game runs 60 FPS constant now (v-sync + triple buffering).
Thanks a lot GenL! You saved the game for me

What makes you think it won't? I didn't notice anything wrong while testing...

Well, the .exe isn't modified, that's true, but wouldn't want to apply a fix if it caused Steam to nullify me for mah cheevos (not that I'd be rackin' this game's up all too quickly, slow as I go). So, no Steam-integration drawbacks? *goes to d/l*

@GenL:
As the others requested, could you please provide a zip instead? I really want to try this, but I'm very uncomfortable with .exe files. |

GenL,
Nice work. Now it perceived much more better with 60 fps. I even began to play it again after I left the game soon after purchase because of low fps. You saved this game for me, thanks. (: |

@GenL
Ah, nm, reread your post. I thought that was what was in the .exe, but it mods it. Though, speaking of mods, many of them involve redistributing a game's files (for use with the same game) so I doubt there's anything to worry about. Especially if the company goes under x_x But I'll try the .exe this weekend ![]() Oh, and thank you!

WOW, what difference 30 fps can make to the human eye, before the game appeared choppy and seemed to be bringing a good gfx card to it's knees, i never suspected a locked framerate (how ♥♥♥♥ty) and now the motion is fluid. thanks very much for this, from me and my eleven year old niece who can also see a vast improvement! i doubt we are going to get any support from the dev at this point so additional thanks...
i just figured out how to give rep points so my first one goes to you! Last edited by DOOMJESUS: 10-21-2010 at 04:13 PM. |

Oh geez. Applied the patch, and while the blur was gone, the game still ran slow. Then I turned shadows off (thought I already had *glances at Steam Cloud*), and, wow, now it runs almost too fast. May have to kerjigger with locking it at 60 FPS, heheh.
