Question Fallout 3 GOTY Edition or Fallout New Vegas?

how does New Vegas compare with Fallout 3 so far? Is it superior, worse, or the same?

I am wondering since I am considering Fallout 3 GOTY Edition or New Vegas....both same price..

New Vegas has a lot of problems at the moment and it's uncertain when the issues are going to be fixed. Personally, if I were in your shoes I would buy Fallout 3 GOTY at the moment and hold off on NV until you've completed 3. While Fo3 has it's fair share of problems as well, it's no where near as bad as NV and has third-party fixes for a lot of it's shortcomings. Besides, all the mods at the moment are on Fo3.

My recommendation: Buy Fallout 3 GOTY Edition and wait until the New Vegas GOTY Edition is released before you buy.

It'll save you 50$ in the long run :P

also if the general consensus is to get Fallout 3 is the GOTY edition really worth it (IE: are the expansion packs that good) cause the regular edition of FO3 is 20 dollars...30$ savings

I would say it is worth it.
Personally I feel only Point Lookout and Broken Steel are "that good"...
but the other 3 are amazing as well.

Adds quite a bit of new content to the world.

I think New Vegas's gameplay is vastly improved from Fallout 3, but there are a ton of issues, so it's a bit of a crapshoot. I think for the time being I would get Fallout 3.

Yeah. FNV is a double edged sword for me in that is doesn't crash ever, something FO3 was never capable of but the performance issues at the moment make it somewhat unplayable.

well, fallout new vegas is actually nothing to do with fallout 3. it's not even expanded story. it's separated. probably, fallout 4 will be more likely connected story from fallout 3. if I were you, I will buy new vegas. it's better anyway. why not.

Let's be honest here, the vast majority of people on these forums are people who have had problems and are looking for fixes and information. The rest are most likely trolls.

I bought New Vegas, and I have had no problems with it. It cures in my opinion a lot of the failings of Fallout 3 (my favorite game ever btw,) and I think it is worth the money. If you do end up having problems, you can look on the internets for solutions, or ask steam for a refund. I've had a game not work for me a couple of times and from what I've heard (and experienced) steam is usually very nice about giving people their money back who just bought the game.

And honestly FO3 was made in 2008, and New Vegas is a fine place to start.

FO3 GOTY has been on sale on Steam already at a significant markdown I believe, and probably will again fairly soon since FNV is out. Plus the holiday sales aren't that far off. I wouldn't pay $50 now for FO3.

New Vegas is better than FO3 in almost every way. I haven't experienced any bugs.

Why would you do that? And lose out on the thousands of mods?

FO 3 GOTY for sure. Base game + all 5 expansions = 100+ hours of gameplay.

I would wait for New Vegas to go on sale. I will most likely wait a year and see if a GOTY edition comes out.
