What the hell is "Raptr" ?

so today i've recived a quick pop up while in steam. It says something about 'raptr' but it dissapears so fast that i don't got time to read what it is.

i looked up this 'raptr' and appearantly it some "ultimate gaming app" to keep track of what your playing.

.. The thing is, i've NEVER agreed to install this crap. I have steam and its enough. NO ONE else has acces to my account, so how i got this i don't know. How to remove it?

i doubt this is some cooperation with steam, then i'd hear about it before.

i think this is some kind of adware, but my antivirus hasn't said anything ..

So please, how have this raptr GTFO my pc..?

go to the control panel and then go to add remove programs and uninstall raptr. If it's not there, then yes, it could be malware. Go to google, and search for malwarebytes. Install that program and see if it finds anything. good luck.

Raptr's not malware. It's a service that tracks your game activity across multiple platforms like PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, and also allows you to chat across networks (like talk to your Steam friends at the same time as your Xbox Live friends).

Most likely it was bundled with one of your games and automatically installed. One such game is Red Faction Guerrilla, if you have it that might be the case. The 'pop-up' you saw probably was the Raptr in-game overlay notifier, it works just like Steam's in-game overlay. It won't hurt your computer, just uninstall it.

Hmm, I also just bought RFG, haven't installed it yet. Will the game still work after Raptr is uninstalled?

It should, as far as I know it doesn't rely on it at all. I also don't really know if it's included with the Steam version of the game. I tend to opt-out of included software bundles but since Steam installs games automatically, you don't get the option or even see what's included.

The thing is, i didn't buy any red faction bs...

However, i was able to find and remove this, whatever it is. So this thread can be remvoved
