Why is FPS capped to 30?

Not being funny, but capping this game to 30FPS makes it look nasty. Does anyone know how to change the cap to 60. Even with Vsync OFF it still caps to 30 :S

Is there a real difference between having it on 30 or 60 FPS?

@PeterWheeler: just because you cannot tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS, doesn't mean no-one can.

@DiceDuP: was FPS capped to 30 on Ego Draconis?

It was 60fps with vsync on.

I've had this trouble before, usually on games that were designed for Xbox 360 and then ported over to PC.

I will search more tommorrow for a solution to this, am tired and fed up of all the waiting around tonight for this game :S

Hmmm, I heard it was a new/improved engine for the remastered version, but why on earth they felt the need to cap it to half the original value is beyond me.

Does the Xbox 360 have an FPS cap of 30? If so, could the reason be just a bad port?

Just found out the game is HARD CAPPED at 30 fps (on the official forums).

UNBELIEVEABLE!

Will see if I can arrange to get my money back from Steam for this. I cannot play PC games at 30fps it hurts my eyes. Really frikkin annoying that they capped it because "some Nvidia users" had a stuttering problem with it.

Piece of crap

In reality there is no dumb question, only the answer can be dumb.
But... yeah. I guess I won't see any diference between them.

Well sry US nvidia users wanted a fix.It was quite obvious it was there game engine that was a problem. So bad news for you but GREAT news for US nivida users suffering from the stuttering.ITS NOW FIXED and works great. And its not like ATI hasn't had its fair share of driver problems in the past or anything LOL.So i guess the game has come full circle for you and i am sry but hey i haven't even been able to play it at all till now so welcome to my world.

If it is capped at 30fps I do not even want it. 30fps is marginally smooth and not acceptable to us PC gamers.

Please don't turn this into an argument about whether or not people can see the difference between 30 and 30+ fps. The fact of the matter is that with regard to a video with a CONSTANT framerate, research indicates that the human eye/brain really cannot tell a difference beyond 30 frames per second.

However, a game is NOT a steady framerate. The FPS dips down and goes up and I can see how it's plausible that some people really might notice the differences in ranges, even with it capped at 30.
