Desktop shortcuts not working :/

Whenever i try to open a game from my desktop (steam only games) i get a error message. "Unable to open this Internet Shortcut. The protocol "steam" does not have a registered program". I can still open the games through the steam client itself but just wanna have the option to open games from my desktop. And ideas on how to fix this?

Delete the short cut that isn't working and make a new one. R-click on the game in your game list. Go down about 7 items to where it says "Create Desktop Shortcut". Click on that and you should have a new shortcut that works.

This means that the Steam URL protocol is not properly set up on your computer. Follow the instructions in this Support article to repair the protocol. Afterwards, the shortcuts should work properly.

Steam is not a registered protocol
