Same thing. This is what I get for being a legitimate paying customer I suppose?
I spend so much time talking up PC gaming to my friends. Spent literally thousands of dollars on Steam over the years. I'm just disgusted. AFK while I emo **edited out my stupid ranting. Still PO'd though. I don't understand why I'd be allowed to buy a product that isn't in stock. This is called product backorder, and its handled pretty simply- you display a notice to the customer before charging their credit card. Grr. Last edited by Dac: 11-12-2010 at 05:51 PM. |

Same issue here. Purchased, downloaded, and it comes up with the "Failed to contact key server" message when I start it. Tried since an hour or two.
Pretty annoying. |

yeah, not cool. There should be a warning prior to purchase. Pretty nefarious, they know they would be running out of keys and did nothing in order to keep people buying.
I was prepared to take this weekend easy with this game and now it looks like I might be out of luck... |

Same here and I'm as annoyed as the rest of you. I'm sure this will be sorted out shortly, but it's still bs and short sighted on Steam's part regardless.

Wait wait... You guys (Valve) didn't get enough access keys for a sale?!!?!? Are you serious? What's our wait time looking at then?

Fortunately DRM never causes problems for legitimate users who purchased their software.

Was wondering what the error means. Turns out others are having this issue, too.
We like RPGs. And for Pete's sake, guys, it's a game. Settle down. |

It's understandable to occasionally run out of keys during a popular sale, but you really need to add a warning to the store page before you let people buy it. It will avoid alot of sad pandas.

This issue here is people paid for a product they should have access to use. If it's a game, movie, or anything... We all have a right to be jarateed!

The issue is the lack of a warning. Product purchased, not delivered. Thats a fundamental law that many of the world's economies are based upon.
Sure it is just a game, but if I buy candy I want sugar... |

And people are posting angrily on a forum dedicated to said game. Seems like about the right reaction. It's not like anybody is marching on city hall over this.
That said, I'm definitely irritated because I bought this for a trip I'm going on tomorrow and was hoping to have it to play. |
