Red face CelebrityPoker.exe has stopped working.

Really? I start up the game for the first time, and the game instantly goes to a black screen, then stops working. I figured it was just a 1-time thing because it just installed DirectX (which I thought i already had )

NOPE!

I try to start it up again, get denied over and over because the .exe has stopped working. Great. Just great.

Windows 7, a really good computer. It's not a computer issue.

I think i've found a solution (at least it worked for me). I went into the steam folder where CelebrityPoker.exe is kept, and changed the properties so that it always runs as administrator.

This may help some of you out there.

I'm one of the 60% of poker night owners with this celebritypoker.exe issue. It worked fine until I changed the resolution, played a bit, and then later rebooted my PC . It no longer loads passed the Telltale logo.

I have uninstalled it, went through the windows registry and removed all instances of it, deleted all my steam files (except steam.exe and steamapps), rebooted and reinstalled steam -- then poker night.

Didn't work. It still crashes.

It seems like the resolution change is what bugged it out...but it ran fine until I rebooted the PC.

My system is WinXP Pro 64-bit. Videocard is ATI Radeon 3650 (512mb/HD) -- I'm wondering if this issue has anything to do with Direct X 9 or Visual C++ Redistrib package?

Why did it work fine before the in-game resolution setting change? Where are its settings for the game's graphics retained? Reinstalling should resolve this issue.

Valve/Telltale games -- please get your crap together. I need strongbad's glasses.

CelebrityPoker.exe sounds like malware. Someone made a bad decision there. Why not simply pokernight or inventory.exe?

Perhaps they are planning several spinoffs with the same loader .exe

Talking re: had this problem; and I fixed it!

I had this problem on Windows 7.

What I did was go to

C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\poker night at the inventory

and I right-clicked CelebrityPoker.exe and changed compatibility to Windows Vista SP1. Boom, it worked

(For those who don't know, CelebrityPoker.exe is NOT malware; it's the executable file for "Poker Night at the Inventory")

NOTE:::: YOU HAVE TO BYPASS STEAM, SO MAKE A SHORTCUT TO CELEBRITYPOKER.EXE ON YOUR START MENU OR YOUR DESKTOP. OTHERWISE YOU'LL STILL HAVE THIS PROBLEM WHEN LAUNCHING VIA STEAM. REPEAT: START THE GAME VIA THE EXE, NOT THROUGH STEAM

If the game is crashing almost immediately you'll want to start the game with a prefs file that has lower settings. The full instructions are here:
