5770 Crossfire or A new card? Better deal?
Hey all
![]() I am looking to Crossfire my 5770 but from things I've read, it may not be worth it. So I've been been wondering is it worth it to Crossfire it or would upgrading it be a better value. I would like to keep it as an Ati card. Thanks all

Recent benches show that Xfire HD 6870 are always ( 5-10 FPS ) better than the GTX 580... And also cheaper.
I would recommend a XFire of 6870. |

Unfortunately 2x 5770 is about the same as one 5870 and the 6870 is so close to matching the 5850/70 it's not funny, ESP at $200..
I think the 128bit bus let the HD5770 down a lot. It would have been a better card IMO with a 192bit bus, and it would have made a better card for CFX later down the track. (this would be different if AMD didn't bring such a great new card to the table in the 6870/50 with is low price, 256bit bus) I don't think anyone expected it to be on par with the 5870/50 at this price point.. While i do feel sorry for you, there is no one to blame.. I always try push ppl for better GPU's over CPU's.. But it's like talking to a wall sometimes.. The HD69XX will really need to up the anti IMO, perhaps we will see the return of the 512bit ring bus.. I hope so it's what made the ATi HD2900XT (512bit 1G GDDR3) card beat AMD's new HD3870 (256Bit 1G DDR3/4), AMD's mistake IMO after the ATi Takeover, the HD3870 could have been a lot better with a 512Bit bus IMO.. |

Wait a little longer to see what the 6900 series are like. If not, I'd get the 6870 and get another for crossfire if you really need it.

5770 is a good card but it's older generation. As been said would probably be a better investment to get something of the 6XXX-series.
