Demo worked fine for me some time ago. But after buying the game now I get lots of flickering grey blocks in Fullscreen mode and in windowed mode the window is just too small and custom resolution does nor work in windowed mode. Can somebody help me get this to work again?

hmm, update drivers/reboot perhaps? Also, there is a hidden switch to fullscreen without restart, with button 0 , its here for testing (i dont know what sort of driver bugs it will trigger so it is not an official feature yet) . Let me know if pressing 0 gets you to good fullscreen.

I tried some different resolutions and in 1280x1024(native) and 1280x960 i got those flickering stuff. 1280x800 looked normal but disproportional. Enforcing with the 0 key led to a good picture but with resolution set at 1024x768.

To be honest i tried to update the drivers, even before first post. But newer Catalysts with the AMD Branding dont seems to work for me well so I stick with the latest ATI Catalyst 10.10 for now.
I think I even played the demo with the 10.10 some weeks ago without a problem so it should work.

try disconnecting any controllers. Are you using 10.5 or 10.6 ?

I tried rebooting, but that didn't seem to effect anything.
I am suffering from 0-3 FPS, most of the time it being 2. I seriously can't play a game with 2 FPS...
Also note that I'm using a laptop, so using a different graphics card is very much out of the question (unless I am mistaken in that it is embedded into the motherboard)

Sorry, it can't work any faster on that graphics card, the card's only good at drawing textured triangles (so most of games do work) but not on custom graphics like in The Polynomial (for most part, not triangle based).

From the system requirements:

Quote:
Note: The Polynomial requires OpenGL 2.1 - compatible graphics card with at least 256MB of video memory (512MB recommended). There is a list of compatible cards: NVIDIA®: GeForce® 8400 and better (e.g. GeForce® GT 260) work well with all effects. AMD/ATI®: Radeon® HD 2000 series and better work well with all effects. Dual-GPU cards might require use of Catalyst 10.4 for compatibility. Intel, other integrated graphics with no specialized video memory: Performance strongly depends on the memory bandwidth, cache, and other factors. Try the demo first. Note: NVIDIA® GeForce® 7600 GT works but particles do not move to the beat (Waves Animator does not work). Other cards below recommended specifications: Some effects (or entire game) may fail to work. Try the demo first.

bummer. Ah well, thanks anyway.
I'll just wait till I get a better machine to play this one then. (Doesn't mean it's not fun to play around in it even if it is very low FPS o3o)

Buggy graphics

I've got an iMac (Core 2 Duo with 1.5GB RAM) running Snow Leopard (10.6.5) and I get some really strange graphics behaviour. The card is an ATI Radeon X1600.

The game is playable for a while but as time goes on, every enemy that goes across the screen leaves a black trail behind it. The trail seems to exist in 3D space as other objects are obscured behind it but visible in front of it. The trail is never erased and eventually covers the display. If I get really close to an enemy then the trail is huge and close so I can no longer see anything of the game.

Any thoughts?

I've downloaded all the updates including the 20th of December set.

Many thanks.

Enable the Radeon workaround in the Visuals.

EDIT: final fix is putting atigktxx.dll into the game folder, no mess, here's the one from 10.4: http://www.kn00tcn.net/kn-atigktxx-10.4.zip

Today The Polynomial has suddenly gone from 11 frames-per-second to around 90 fps.

I've been installing lots of games from the Steam sales. Perhaps some other program installing and changing something fixed it for me.
