Easiest way to invite a friend to play with me?

A buddy and I just want to play 2 player, whats the easiest way to do this? I can't right click his name and invite, nor are there any invite friends options that I am aware of in the game.

Whats the process I have to do to host a game? Do I have to give him my IP and make sure my ports are open and use the direct connect? Would that be the easiest?\

Everything about this game seems awesome except the multiplayer area seems clunky.. and I HATE matchmaking ugh...

Port forwarding is not required, try this first:
From the main menu click "Tournaments", then "Host Tournament", then select a level (good 2-player maps are Beach, Lurk, Bats, Octogame, Smores, Sky, Below, Chill, Gajoob, Circle, Crossover) and click "Start Level". You should get a message that your server has been publicly listed.
Your friend then clicks on "Tournaments" from the main menu, then "Find Tournament" and selects your server.

If the above doesn't work ensure that "Public" is checked on the "Host Tournament" screen. If you want to limit so that only your buddy can join then set "Connections" to 2 on the "Host Tournament" screen. If your friend cannot connect then you can setup port forwarding using the info here: http://clonesgame.com/port-forward

Let me know how it goes.

We'd like to introduce something like that on our website. It would be a way to challenge another Clones user to a multiplayer match at a specific time. A message would be automatically sent.

We've updated the trending page so you can now see what time of day is the best for hosting a server:
