Will Guild Wars 2 be on Steam?

This question has certainly been answered before but I am too lazy to look for it in the forums.

Will Guild Wars 2 be on Steam and will it have any achievements unlike Guild Wars 1?

Thanks...

It is uncertain at this point. I'm sure NCSoft will release it like they did with Guild Wars, but again, I'm not sure.

I can't imagine it won't be, maybe not the achievements though. Since you can already download Guild Wars directly from their website, I reckon they would have a similar service for the sequel. And with something like that, why not go ahead and give the rights to steam?

Would be a huge plus and even more profit for them to sell it via steam. Less cost for boxed copies. Better investment. People would eat it up. No one likes to leave their house to buy a game. Especially a game that will instigate such impulse buying.

You don't download GW directly from the website. You download the executable, and the executable downloads the rest, XD.

I would love to get GW2 on Steam.
Digital distribution is the future, baby.

Tell that to the millions who will be getting WOW cataclisum on the midnight launch.

I'm willing to bet that atlest 90% of Guild wars players will get the game at launch. Also, I like having a hard copy of my games. You can install them faster for a start, as you don't need to wait for the download. But I can't see any resion that steam should not have GW2.

Aion was avaiable on steam from the first day so I guess Guild Wars 2 will be released on steam too.

There is no definite answer. They said that the game will be ready, when it's ready. That being said, I hear predictions that late Q3-Q4 2011 are possible, but we will have to wait and see. I'm hoping for a late Q4 release though.

If you don't mind a little bit of reading then here is a great blog-post from ArenaNet explaining why they haven't set a release date and such.

http://www.arena.net/blog/when-its-ready

Also, I can see GW2 being released on Steam sometime... but I hope it won't require Steam (in the same sense like Civilization 5 and Modern Warfare 2).
I hope it's released the same way GW1 has been.

I'll be buying a hard copy, but if I have to go through a secondary program for launching I very much hope (PRAY!!!!) to god that it is Steam and not GFWL!!!

Dear Santa, let GW's 2 not use GFWL!

I think Arenanet wont be that stupid, it will probably be retail and their own store first, then possibly d2d, steam and all the rest of em.

they released Aion on steam, so they'll be releasing guild wars 2.

Please note, since this has not been realised by some. Steam does not mean steamworks. Steamworks means the game requires steam to run regardless of where you bought it, steam means the game can be bought on steam but doesn't require it should you have bought it from somewhere else.

I'll be getting a collectors edition though, a true one, not some 'digital deluxe, zomg you spent £10 on a .pdf file, edition'

I imagine they would do it, don't worry about achievements they have them in game for gw2, not steam achievements but still something to shoot for.
