Strange weapon behavior

I have been watching some AvPC2K videos on Youtube, and noticed that their weapons don't behave in the same way that mine do. For instance, when I click my mouse button once, the pulse rifle automatically fires 4 shots. In the videos, everyone seems to be able to do controlled bursts. Likewise, my pistols don't fire nearly as fast as the ones people use in the videos.

Is there a problem with my copy or what?

Pulse does fire 4 shots per mouse click...could you post the youtube links for reference?

there's this one, although now that I look at it again, I might be mistaken.

Then here's the one with the pistols. They're firing much faster than I can fire them.

Try holding down secondary fire.

well, that makes them fire faster, but both at once. This guy seems to be able to fire individual pistols as fast as he pulls the trigger.

Pulse fires just like I said. It's clearly shown in the first video you posted at 0:27.

As for the Pistols...I don't know how that dude made them fire that fast, but that's not how they're supposed to fire.

Doesn't seem to make that much of a difference in Skirmish though...if you want your pistols to fire fast, use secondary fire.
In Deathmatches/Tags/Last Man Standing games where you need to kill human opponents, both the Pistols and the Pulse Rifle primary fire are almost useless anyway, so it shouldn't be that big of a deal.

Ok I was inspecting the pistols some more and you can make the pistols fire significantly faster if you mash the hell out of primary fire. It works better if you assign it to a keyboard key and not button 1 on your mouse.

Holding secondary fire is still more powerful.

About the pulse rifle, tapping the primary will always fire off 4 bullets. I paid close attention to this in my Redux mod when matching up the sounds correctly.
