mac port of new expansion
They have said time, and time again that they want to do a mac version. With the new expansion no longer using GFWL, there is no more reason to not consider a mac port.
This is my vote. |

I would like to see a mac version myself, so I can get my mac friend to play it. He's a big RTS fan and has become dangerously addicted to playing Red Alert 3. Which I can't bring myself to play anymore becuase its just a noob rush fest. DOW 2 is not the best RTS out there but its leaps and bounds better than Red Alert 3.

I can't wait for the new xpac. I am hoping they really dropped GFWL this time.

Don't worry, they did drop GfWL.
I don't know if a Mac-Port is planned, but things now look better than ever. |

I dont think they are going to do this.
1. CoH (like dow2 an essence-Game) has no gfwl neither, but there is no support for mac at all. even not for CoHO, whose beta has been released last year. 2. Retribution is just an Add-on. Have you ever heard about releasing a (standalone) addone on a mac, but not the original game? (the orginal keeps gfwl and doesn't get a synchropatch --> dow2/CR and Retribution are going to be two different Versions) 3. It's a 30 Euro game, so probably not worth it, to port a complex Essence-Game, they have never done before. 4. how do you want to play COH/DoW2 with best grahpics on a mac? Most mac people don't own a HD 4800/HD 5700 (which is required for best game experience) Both Games strongly profit from 1gb Vram. Last edited by Kriegsstratege: 01-11-2011 at 06:28 AM. |

erm no.
A HD 4830/HD 4850 should be minimum for this game for playing in higher resoultion and with maximum settings. My old 8800 GTS (HD 4670) couldn't handle this. [out of vram and no power for hightest Settings in CoH] And Macs need even more power, because of the driver/API. (if you want the same graphics quality) Last edited by Kriegsstratege: 01-10-2011 at 04:00 AM. |

If you insist (I'm assuming) City of Heroes has never been ported to Macintosh, then I have news for you. (not sure what CoH would be if that is not it) macbeta I really find people who join a discussion to upset people quite disturbing. I know many Windows gamers with friends who use macs, and I know they wish they could play together. Now that macs are on Intel, the excuses are just that. |

COH is company of heroes... A relic Game with Essence Engine. City of Heroes has nothing to do with Relic or Essence ...
btw I was talking about the best gaming experience. It's not a game MUST its the BEST you can get. Please read more carefully next time. This "best" gaming experience is not available for mac as explained in the last posts. Last edited by Kriegsstratege: 01-11-2011 at 05:38 AM. |

As for the whole CoH thing. I'm not a gamer, so I have to apologize that I'm not up on all the abbreviations you use. I just like DoW after a buddy showed it to me. Last edited by appleseed3: 01-11-2011 at 05:47 AM. |

ah come on. This is nuts:

Mac: only 5.41 owns a MacPro. And not every Macpro has even a HD5K. --------------- Quote:
btw. Every HD 5870 has 1gb Vram. There are some custom designs with 2gb. But what is your point? Or are you talking about the System Ram? Your Mac Pro has only 1gb Ram? Last edited by Kriegsstratege: 01-11-2011 at 06:00 AM. |

I appologize for writing heavily instead of strongly.
nevertheless I posted 4 points why there will be probably no Retribution Port. |

Ty, I don't like having to be hostile. There is no point to it. Speaking of the stats you pointed out to me. Can you spot some of the "hackintosh" users in those numbers? Oh one more wrinkle, the stats are voluntary, and thus are inaccurate representing all Mac users on Steam. Any users for that matter. As new as Steam is for Mac users I would not be surprised if many do not know about this volunteer support. (just as I was unaware) I could break down some of these by video card model. Since no mac has ever had a 5800 series mobile part. Also Steam only runs on Intel tmk. That shortens the list quite a bit. NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 8.94% +0.26% ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600 5.88% -0.36% NVIDIA GeForce 9400 5.76% -0.64% Mobile Intel 965 Express 3.22% +0.31% ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 1.70% +0.02% Mobile Intel 945GM Express 1.61% -0.25% NVIDIA GeForce 8800M 1.55% +0.08% ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5800 Series 1.30% +0.21% ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series 1.05% -0.04% ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 0.71% +0.71% Unknown 0.62% +0.62% Other 4.46% -0.45% A tiny bit of digging, I wonder what percentage of Steam mac users didn't pay for a real mac?
