I dont get it.....

I can't seem to find out how multiplayer works. It seems you just run around holding left mouse button and jumping. I can't seem to get one hit off, and everyone blocks all my moves (including force powers). My person doesn't get hurt either. I occasionally kill someone and have no idea how.
Also I have tried looking up guides on the multiplayer, I hear its quite deep and not just a huge slap fight. The guides talk about different colored fighting styles. I'm confused.... Please someone shed some light on this game. It really does seem like good fun.

Alright, singleplayer has explained a lot. I guess I shouldn't of jumped straight into the multi haha. I get lightsaber styles now; however, I still don't understand how the fighting works. Are there ways to counter your opponent? It still seems I just click and jump around. Sometimes my lightsaber hits, sometimes it doesn't.

It's pretty complex, if you want some serious help (I'm playing this game since release) then I suggest doing it via TeamSpeak 3 or something like that, too much to write.
If you're interested, write me a PM and we can arrange something.

Jedi Academy combat IS somewhat complex. Your character will attack differently based on your movement:
Running straight forward does a sort of downward slash,
Sidestepping you swing sideways,
backing up does a sort of stabby move
Rolling then attacking does a really powerful unblockable stab, but in MP it takes 25(If I remember correctly) Force, and in both SP and MP it can be dodged relatively easily because of its predictability and leaves you defenseless for a short time afterward.
By getting used to the way your person attacks based on movement, you can begin 'Aiming' your blows, trying to put your lightsaber where theirs is not.
Also, get used to the stances- the way someone holds their lightsaber when on Strong(Red), Medium(Yellow), and Fast(Blue). It will affect their attack speed, reach, and damage. In MP, I think you always get all 3 styles. Press "L" by default to switch between them, and get some practice against Padawan bots.
