IMO there wasn't a single moment of horror in this game. I think introducing mechs and too much action just ruined it.

Monolith used up all their ideas in FEAR 1, but their publisher wanted a sequel since FEAR 1 was so successful... So what do you do when you need a sequel, but used up all your ideas in the original? Well, you do what Hollywood does and just make it, hype it up, and hope for the best. And when that fails, you just do it again.

The scary thing (for me anyway) with FEAR1 was that you only saw the results of what Alma did for like 95% of the game, you never saw it happen. So that kicks the imagination into gear about wtf ocurred...
In FEAR2 it's all so explicit, enemies everywhere rather than long parts where nothing happens but you still wonder when something's gonna pop up like in FEAR1. Still fighting my way through it, think I'm in interval 5 or 6 not sure, but so far I'm not very impressed. FEAR2's just a straight shooter with some horror elements added and a lot of gore, it's not too shabby in that respect but it definately doesn't even reach the heels of FEAR1. |

This video claims its real but i just can't believe someone is this scared with this game:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=3s0wvYeGTHc I played this game through at dark room and i was little bored now and then. I found Fallout 3 sewers more scary than this game. |

Lol Steve is a well-known lightweight. I LOVE that video, he's SO hilarious
![]() Remember, some folks find the MENTION of ghosts or vampires or whatever to be scary. Some folks don't, others think that jump-scares are that much more fun. ![]() Oooh - something I just now noticed, in almost all the time he's on screen he HARDLY blinks at all! That's the effect of video games, not only is he volunteering to play but his mind is so absorbed by it all that his brain forgets to make him close his eyes. I'm also scared very easily. My hands were sweating a lot when i played Resident evil 4 and i had to take a break at every 30min lol. I won't play games which are said to be extremely scary like amnesia but pretty much every review praised how good Fear 1 is so i bought it.
I loved Fear 1 but i didn't find it scary at all. Its has strong atmosphere and all but i was amazed how calm i was that whole play through . So i just find it so weird when someone is freaking out with this game.PS I'll never ever even touch Amnesia. Not because it would be bad game but even trailer scares me. I'm afraid i'll wet myself or get heart attack (never have one. I'm healthy). |

The original FEAR was the scariest... Fear 2 lost those moments, then Fear 3 thought putting out tons of gore is scary...

There wasn't tons of gore in Fear 3. Not sure where you're getting that from... O.o

FEAR 1 and its addons sure are scary even though probably not as much as some other games.
The thing that i disliked about fear, is that it uses dirty tricks to scare the crap out of you. You walk around, everything is okay you enter the room, atke some ammo or smth then when you leave the room there is a ♥♥♥♥ing zombie staring at you which dissipates into the air shortly after. its very, very uncomfortable to know that the game can throw all kinds of dirty, unpredictable spooks at you. Or when you walk around the corner, everything is ok, you walk around the same corner back and something is there which scares ♥♥♥♥ out of you and you thought it was safe. The gameplay is divided into periods of spooks and action. When the action ends you know something dirty is about to happen and you dont want to keep playing because you know it will be scary, unpredictable and dirty and you wont expect it when it happens. FEAR 1 at 0% brightness on Extreme difficulty, go.
Makes you wish next to Health and Reflex boosters, that you could find larger flashlight batteries! |

Nah, it's a scary game. You were scared. You just have a juvenile vocabulary and taste when it comes to describing fright. That's fine, you'll understand when you're older. FEAR is a fun, terrifying game, and the sequels are pretty spooky too. But just the fact that you are posting in a forum about your "lack of fear" proves to me that you have a low comprehension of terror.

Well I think that FEAR 1 is a great game, reminded me somehow of Half Life.
But for me there was no single moment of fear, then I played FEAR 2, which is by most people the worse game, and sometimes it scared the crap out of me. So maybe it depends what kind of person you are. |
