using hammer editor with half life 1

every time i get on hammer half life 2 is the only game it lets me use but even when i press file/new i just get fatal error wireframe somthing like that. i just wanna know how can i use half life 1 for hammer i would maually put in the files but it says i dont have the right one please i need help i just want to creat some half life levels i can play the origanal half life just fine hell i put it on the highest setting and it still runs fine even on multiplayer servers

The Hammer editor works with HL2 because it's for source.

Half life 1 is not on that engine. It requires a different editor.

oh really every time i looked up half life level editor hammer would show up what editor is it called for the origanal half life
