Game won't launch - Windows XP

I'm having trouble launching the game. It will say "Preparing to launch Super Meat Boy" for a second or two, then just stop and terminate the process. I'm on an older computer unfortunately.

Specs:
Windows XP SP 3
Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT
3.1GHz single core processor
1.5 MB RAM

Tried:
Reinstalling
Updating drivers
Verifying game files

Can anyone help me? Thanks!

Same problem!
My specs:
Intel 945GM Express Chipset
1.8GHz dual core intel
2GB RAM

Lol at your 1.5MB of ram ^^

Are there any logs anywhere that I can check?

try running it in windowed mode (you have to right-click the game in your steam library, go to properties-> launch options) and type in -windowed. if it works, you can still try turning on fullscreen in the options(ingame). or try to reduce your resolution.

I just tried the windowed thing and it didnt work for me.

Same, i don't even see the process in task manager it closes so fast, so i think it's something before graphics thats crashing it?

FIXED IT!
Aha!

If you run the game strait from your steam folder, instead of through steam, I got a dll missing error.
it was looking for xinput9_1_0.dll, so i downloaded this off the web, (google it and it'll come up as a download somewhere), put it in the same folder as SuperMeatBoy.exe, the game worked perfectly.

Hope this fixes it for other people!

I't not working for me. I'm trying to play Don't Starve, but it just gets "Error during initialization"
