Preparing to launch teamfortress 2 FOREVER

I have been staring at the preparing to launch team fortress 2 screen for about ten minutes. I have restarted steam, and downloaded the new update. I have never had this problem before, any help? Anyone else having this problem?

Apparently there was an update that just wasn't happening for some reson and my comp got stuck in limbo. If anyone else ever has this problem jsut force quit steam and then it should pop back up with the update

I can vouch that this is a cross-platform bug; last night my Steam got stuck trying to launch TF2, and when I finally force-quit Steam and restarted, it immediately started downloading last night's big update.
