Sale Price - wtf

So I just bought this game last night (while it was on sale) for $17.49 and now they're charging only $8.75??

Has anyone else been screwed?

Thumbs down

Me too.
I actually signed up for forum access just to ask about this game's sale yesterday. I was going to ask:
"If all the TellTale games are 50% off, why is the Monkey Island sale considered a daily deal at 50% off? Is it not already at that price?"
However the process to sign up took longer than I expected and I bought the game at the 'daily deal' 50% off price, not the correct 75% discount. I don't imagine we will be seeing the 25% returned to us either.
So much for waiting for the best deal.

You should contact Steam support ... It is their fault, since the game is 50% off for the whole holiday period and should've been discounted by 75% yesterday as a special deal.

They should give you back the change if they care for their custommers.

Already done, awaiting their response...

Under what categories? (Ie: How?) I wish to do the same but I am not seeing a relevant option so far, and maybe if the complaints are in the same place, there could be a resolution easier.

I created the ticket under the "Purchases and Payment" category.

I've just got a response from someone who clearly is unaware that daily sales are going on. He responded saying that the game is 50% off, not 75%.

Hopefully someone will be able to help.

I just submitted my ticket as well, under the same category. Here is what I said:

First I want to direct you to this forum thread: http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...1#post19727510

During this holiday sale event, TellTale games (including Tales of Monkey Island Series) have been listed as 50% off.
The Daily Deals for the 22nd through 23rd listed Tales of Monkey Island, at 50% off. I thought this was odd, but because it was listed as a Daily Deal, I did not expect the price to get any lower this month.

Checking back today (prior to the Deal change over at 1pm EST) I found the price of this game had been further dropped to 75%, yet I was still charged for 50%.

I can understand that price changes do happen and under normal circumstances I would not complain about being in this position. In this case however, I feel it was [someone at] Steam's mistake for incorrectly listing the sale price for a number of hours during this 24 hour period.

I request a refund or credit for $8.74, the difference in price between the two deals.
Thank you for your time.

Same thing happened last year with Torchlight. Just live with it. The game is worth what you payed for it easily.

I'm sure it is, but that is not exactly the point. They made a mistake and as you pointed out, it apparently has happened before. Yes, we chose to purchase at that price and if we get nothing in return so be it.
I explained in my previous post about how the sale was misleading and was later corrected to a notably lower amount.

I am dealing with it, but that doesn't change the fact that this was a mistake and at very least should be avoided as best as possible in the future. If I didn't ask, I'd have 0 chance of results.

I contacted support for the same reason and recieved a response that said "Unfortunately, our billing system is automated and we have no option to offer a partial refund on purchases or to add store credit to your account for the difference. We apologize for any inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding." Not much else I can do I suppose. I like Steam but am really disappointed this time around.

I got a similar response. Oh well. I didn't really expect anything, but it was worth a shot at least. It is a shame, but life goes on.

I had this response also, but was for a smaller value so didn't pursue it further.

Under the distance selling act they should by law provide a refund procedure- something they choose to ignore in nearly all cases.

AND yes, they can provide either an INDIVIDUAL credit, voucher or free game activation code of some sort. BECAUSE IF NOT, HOW ARE THE WINNERS OF THE DAILY WISHLIST COMPETITIONS GOING TO GET THEIR PRIZES???????????
