Hows the multiplayer?

Deciding if i should get it since its on sale. im DLing the demo now and i assume the demo is only SP so im asking if the MP is any good? Are there dedicated type servers or is it match-making?

hmm...no replies. well i played the demo and its pretty fun. i checked out the wings of prey yuplay forums and sadly, it seems this game's MP is dead, no populated servers.

This is fast, some arcade-style dogfight. The game is not dead, but it's really not popular, because there are many bugs with connecting, playing and chatting.

ah i see. well i decided against buying it while it was on sale. part of my decision was based off the MP bugs and the DRM. decided to instead use the $6 towards IL1946. though the graphics arnt that great, i think it would be a better investment, plus the MP community for IL2 seems pretty active.

If MP is your thing, yeah, Il-2. Just be sure to get all the latest patches: http://ultrapack.il2war.com/index.php?topic=1536.0 Turn off Steam updating for it, and follow the instructions for UP2.01 (not the first, UP 2.0n, which is outdated). 9 total downloads, plus the installer.

WoP is a better SP experience, IMO, but there's no pretending that WoP multiplayer is anything other than flipping Spits on Arcade.

I believe their MP is based on peer hosting instead of dedicated servers. I know from reading their forums that their torrent client is unthrottled, which would make playing MP a nightmare. That's probably why the WoP MP community is dead at the moment.
