Problem with Super Meat Boy

I have a problem with Super Meat Boy. I bought and downloaded it during a Steam offer a couple of days ago, but, as I click it to play, it makes a black-screen and then it appears this message:

"MicroSoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Program: c\program files (...

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an inusual way.
Please, contact the application's support for more information.".

What should I do to make it work? My OS is Windows 7 if it were important.

What .NET Framework are you on? Try updating that, even though that's hardly the problem here, but it's the most easy solution I can think of.

I'm on Windows 7 (64bits), my .NET Framework is 1.1, is the problem there?

Run windows update, and make sure that any "optional" .NET updates are selected.

64 bit win7 has issues with 32bit libraries, too.

Thanks, but it didn't work. There was a .NET update, but Super Meat Boy doesn't run. I downloaded it again and I also reset the computer --There's the same dialogue.

I'm really sad, this is one of my most requested games for these Holidays but I can't play it...

Hmm.

try this. If the game mistakenly installed the wrong direct X, that would cause the issues you're having too.

Good to know i'm not the only one having this problem. I'm getting the same error message but hopefully what TheStripe suggested will work.

Update: I downloaded the directX but still ended up getting the same message

Got another try:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/e...inityDownloads

If that doesn't work, try this:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135

It's a troubleshooting doc for software conflicts. It will have you flipping off various startup and login programs and services. It can help you find the problem if it's a conflict, but I think reinstalling the visual C++ libraries (link above) is a good start.

Is there any further update to this? I've completely removed my 2008 redistributable, and replaced it, reboot my with all services off gives the same error as well. Even when I had the 2008 redistributable fully uninstalled, running the game is giving the same error messages, which I would assume it'd give a different error.
