Lightbulb ME1 and ME2 XBOX 360 Controller Support

This is for everyone that just bought ME1/ME2 on steam and tried to play the games using their XBOX 360 controller. For some moronic reason the controller support was intentionality removed/crippled from both games, however *almost* full controller support can be restored by changing configuration (INI) file(s).

It was really hard to find these INI files as all the links from the original threads are now dead.

With a little google help I was able to find them. Here they are, re-upped for your downloading pleasure

ME1:
NETLOAD

ME2:
NETLOAD

For details/specifics, please read the original threads...

ME2 THREAD

BIG UPS to Atari1980 for his efforts on ME1!
BIG UPS to Soulfly1811 and SRIMK for their efforts on ME2!

Thank you so much for this, I didn't even know this option existed. I had started playing with Xpadder, but "native" controller support is so much better ! I really don't understand why Bioware would remove a feature out of their game, except maybe for some contractual obligations with Microsoft (doesn't make much sense to me)...

Be aware that using powers will be next to impossible in ME1, unless you keep a mouse nearby to select them, and powers will have to be used from the invisible power wheel (weapons selected the same way) as the LB/RB/Y buttons mostly don't work to activate powers..

..unless you guys figured something out that I didn't.

Awesome, I was looking for these everywhere, thanks

EDIT:
Anyone else have problems with opening things? I can't seem to interact with containers or doors, not even using the key commands.

So basically, this is what works:
-looking around
-moving around
-aiming
-shooting
-reloading
-running
-start button

Everything else doesn't work.

So, everything except navigating any menus/interfaces?

Mass Effect 3 XBOX 360 Controller Support
Quote:
Dear Friends,
__________________________________________________ ____________
P A R T I A L C O N T R O L L E R S U P P O R T L I N K B E L O W ! ! ! ! ! !

Like many of you, I was irritated beyond measure at the brazen lack of concern from Bioware vis a vis controller support for the Mass Effect franchise.

So I got my hands dirty. I have burned many, many candles combing blindly through the Coalesced.bin file of Mass Effect 3 to try my hand at flipping the right switches and getting the kind of controller support that some benevolent individual provided us all with in Mass Effect 2.

Just writing this makes me furious.

Because I have been mildly successful. And through the successes that I have achieved, one thing has become painfully clear: FOR THE DEVELOPERS TO PROVIDE YOU THE CONTROLLER SUPPORT YOU CRAVE WOULD COST THEM AN ABSOLUTE PITTANCE OF THEIR TIME! All the changes I have made to the Coalesced file could have been made in five minutes if I would have known what I was looking for, which the developers do. I am just some guy who was sick of the status quo. I am practically computer illiterate. But I was determined.

And I invite all who stumble across this thread to try out my Alpha build of the Coalesced.bin file.

A few caveats: this file is HEAVILY modified. DO NOT USE THIS FOR MULTIPLAYER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. The chance of a ban is probably high. I take no responsibility for what what might happen if you choose to use this file.

But a lot of the controller support is working. I would say this Coalesced is 70% done. I invite anyone with some skills or know-how to pick up the torch and continue modding this until all issues are solved.

May a new conversation begin. And with that, I provide you a link to the file:

Anymore luck with Mass Effect 3?

If I could get out of the menus that lock me up, I might be pretty happy with the coalesced the way it is, even if i had to use my mouse for certain menus. Anyone know how to fix that?
