What exactly do all the SMB leaderboards on Steam mean?

I open up achievements, then view leaderboards, and I'm greeted with a drop down menu with options like

SMB_LEADERBOARD_100
SMB_LEADERBOARD_101
etc

And then all my friend's names, and a number right next to it, without any actual explanation to what each leaderboard means, or what the numbers mean.

Anyone care to explain?

The in-game leadboards are still screwed up, so the broken Steam ones probably won't be fixed any time soon.

someone said that 100 refers to world 1, 101 to world 2 etc... but how exactly are they screwed up? most of the top are around 306,XXX,XXX (306 for the levels [and bandages..? how many are there?], the X's seem to depend on the overall time (not spent on the game but best times of all levels added together, with less time meaning a higher rating)... some get to 309,XXX,XXX. only mr. mcmillen himself (359,XXX,XXX , WTF , i guess he's done some shenanigans to be forever no.1, fine by me) and a guy named "BAD_BEAR" (316,XXX,XXX) have more. this last score is acutally the only one that irritates me, as it isn't as freaked out as mcmillen's (cheater![?] ) but still a big leap away from the others, who all share the same first three digits.

HELLO MIGHTY UNKNOWN STEAM-USER! EXPLAIN!

(ps: i wouldn't care if i wasn't about to enter top 200 )

Try being 12th and getting knocked mercilessly down by countless cheaters the day the game went on super sale.

SMB_LEADERBOARD_0: Levels/total time leaderboard
SMB_LEADERBOARD_100 through 106: Levels 1-1 through 1-7.

Nothing else shows up beyond that due to space constraints it appears.
