Game crashes before Splash screen
Bought game today and after the download was finished I tried to start it but shorty after I click on play Windows tells me that the exe has stopped working. (I'm using win7 64bit)
Well after a few forum searched I tried the following solutions: -changing the resolution in the engine file(since its the steam release there is no ea folder under my documents) -uninstalling physx and using the version the game ships with -updating direct x and gpu driver. (My GPU is a 475GTX.) Hope you guys can help me. |

I bought it just now, finally completed the download and I also got this problem ... Also running Windows 7 64-Bit. Help please!
EDIT; Easy fix. Find the TDEngine.ini file (located at Documents/EA Games/Mirrors Edge/TDGame/Config) and search for resx and resy (resolution settings). Change them to your native resolution and it should work. Last edited by Ataraxis: 12-27-2010 at 07:55 PM. |

Like I wrote in my original post I already did change resx/resy and it did not fix the problem for me. Well at least I think I did I was looking for the file inside the common steam folder because I don't have any EAGAMES folder under my documents.
*edit* Just tried to create said folder manually but that doesn't do the trick either. *edit2* Just downloaded a crack for the game and now the game works, do I really have to use piracy in order to play a game I paid money for? Last edited by Awbee: 12-28-2010 at 12:08 AM. |

If downloading a cracked .exe fixes the issue then how can you blame it on a bad port? That sounds like a bug, nothing to do with the quality of the port.
Mirror's Edge is far from a poor quality lazy port. Sure there are a few crappy 360 ports out there. Mirror's edge is well optimized and has excellent PhysX features (which were created especially for PC/nVidia/Ageia). Every time some people encounter a bug, it's not the fault of a bad port. By that logic, every time there's a Tsunami, it's because "God is angry", which is ALSO a load of horse sh 1t. |

Dont work for me i can't find file TDEngine.ini.
I found DefaultEngine.ini and change resolution to 1440x900 but don'nt work too. Show this message: --------------------------- Message --------------------------- The game cannot start. The file ..\TdGame\Config\DefaultEngine.ini is corrupt. Please run the game installation again to repair corrupted data files. --------------------------- OK --------------------------- anyone can fix that ? Win 7 x64 Radeon 5850 Black Edition |

And also, I've had more luck changing 'MaxMultiSamples' to 1 (from 2) instead of changing ResX and ResY to my screen's native resolution. That may be an OS issue. Quote:
And I have no idea where W7 stores game .ini and save files. See above for XP. I would imagine that it would be wherever your default directory is for saving pictures and word files and such. |

Awbee I'm having the same problem as you are... I think that the game isn't even installing... that's why we don't have the folder in the "My Documents" folder... as the games isn't even really installed yet.
As soon as I get the game downloaded and try to run it in the steam application it goes directly to a mini window that states "Play game" or (something like) "See support page". Normally when I run games for the first time in steam... it brings up a little steam window that states what it is installing (like C++ and Direct x and other type driver related items), but for this game... it goes directly into the error window. I'm running Win 7 64 bit with a GTX 280. I think its something with this game. Hopefully I will get this game to work. If not I want my money back :P |

The are two config files. (Disregard the drive letters as I have my Steam on another drive from the OS):
D:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\mirrors edge\TdGame\Config and C:\Users\YOUR NAME\Documents\EA Games\Mirror's Edge\TdGame\Config |

Awbee do you have kaspersky installed? if you do then I just found out that it has issues with the unreal engine, and your gonna have to roll back the update to 11.0.1.400, or uninstall the program... as disabling it does not work.
If the game isn't unpacking itself, then there would be no file in the "My Documents" folder... as its not installing its self correctly. If your not sure or don't believe me, then you can contact Kaspersky support at their website, and they will let you know what to do and how. Always check for yourself as ppl sometimes post misinformation just to be jerks. |
