I'm signing this! I've played the demo and really enjoyed it, but I won't get a game that has activations that can't be revoked.

Well just posting here to say that this has finally ended up biting me in the rear. Apparently I bought this long enough ago that I've had enough hardware changes and/or OS installs that my activations have been used up and the game can no longer be played. Yep, apparently my behavior is that of a common pirates? I need to be punished for upgrading my system? Wow, just wow. Guess I'll look around and see if there is any way to circumvent this bulls*** and I don't care what Crytek or EA has to say about it. I payed for the game, I will play it. And in the future, I may just have to boycott titles with this abomination of a DRM scheme.

check your PM

and I agree....Crysis 1 is one of the OLDEST games out there that still has DRM....over 4 years now...I seriously don't understand why such old games still carry DRM....I mean the developer/publisher ain't gonna make any more money on such an old title...its way past its prime and continuing to keep the DRM is just going to hurt sales....I'm sure there are PLENTY of people who still want to pick up this title, but avoid because of DRM

the thing is. they don't bother with the title anymore. they only produce keys, and support is pretty much non-existence.

i actually bought a retail disc without the SecureRom.
and can be installed on any system as many times as possible

it's been nearly a year since anyone from Crytek talked about the Securom issue:

There is no plan to remove SecuROM from Crysis at this time as we're entirely focused on Crysis 2. As for SecuROM and Crysis 2... we haven't said anything about our DRM plans, which includes having said nothing about using SecuROM.

Tom
so any updates on the issue? I've tried emailing Crytek, but I never get a repsonse.

/Signed... I would have to make a new Steam account n repurchase Crysis to make it work, which I did, then it worked on my primary account until I changed HDDs to SSD and not it doesn't work. I have yet to try it on my original account in which I repurchased it.

Not going to happen anytime soon, and likely never.

The decision lies solely in the hands of Crytek. They've responded in this thread that they aren't interested in removing this DRM from Crysis because they wanted to focus on Crysis 2.

Cry-Tom...are you still out there? We still really wanna buy your game. Since the last time I visited this thread I played and finished Far Cry. That was a pretty excellent game. The boss was a real pain to beat but I finally did it. Well, the third last boss I guess. Anyway, it was a fine game and I'd love to play the true sequel to it. So would a lot of others. May I politely ask the Crytek team to revisit the issue of SecuROM on the Crysis games on Steam? We would all really appreciate any extra time and consideration you'd give this matter.
