Is this game at all based on the James Hilton book?

from the 30s. Because I saw a picture of a white guy and Chinese girl in what looked liked the Himalayas.

You do get a plane crash in the Himalayas though, and a secret temple that isn't called Shangri La

All in all you see where the inspiration is coming from. You could even interpret it as a sequel if you wanted to.
