How to change game language to 'not supported' one

Aight, so this is what I need: polish subtitles in this game. All of my friends have it, but they bought PL cd-keys/cd versions, and I have it gifted from some American. Is there any way so this language version was available for me too? Steam Support isn't helping me :\

You can force Saints Row 2 to choose the language using the following startup parameters if your region's release has the string files included:

forcelang_en - force language to English
forcelang_de - force language to German
forcelang_fr - force language to French
forcelang_es - force language to Spanish
forcelang_it - force language to Italian
forcelang_nl - force language to Dutch
forcelang_se - force language to Swedish
forcelang_dk - force language to Danish
forcelang_pl - force language to Polish
forcelang_cz - force language to Czech
forcelang_ru - force language to Russian
forcelang_ch - force language to Switzerland
forcelang_jp - force language to Japanese

Unfortunately, the English release only has the English string files, so these parameters will not work for you. Since I had some time today, I went ahead and compiled a plain vanilla patch with all the language files included that you can use:

This patch can be used for any region release in addition to Polish (although German is untested and may have issues since it's heavily cut and censored.)

This patch simply adds multi-language support for all SR2 region releases. It contains no other mods and is designed for the player who simply wants to play the original game in their own language.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTION:

Backup the following file and replace it with the one contained in this archive:
..\steam\steamapps\common\saints row 2\patch.vpp_pc

USAGE:

All language string files have been added in, so the game should automatically change language for menus, movie subtitles, and prompts dynamically depending on your OS language. The following languages are supported:
* CH Switzerland
* CZ Czech
* DE German (may possibly have issues since the German release is cut)
* DK Danish
* EN English
* ES Spanish
* FR French
* IT Italian
* JP Japanese
* NL Dutch
* PL Polish
* RU Russian
* SE Swedish
* SK Slovak

TROUBLESHOOTING:

If the language does not automatically change, you may need to add a startup parameter to the game to force it to choose your desired language. To set launch parameters for Saints Row 2, right click on it Steam and choose Properties.

On the GENERAL tab, click the SET LAUNCH OPTIONS button

Enter any of the following commands in the dialog box that opens.

forcelang_en - force language to English
forcelang_de - force language to German
forcelang_fr - force language to French
forcelang_es - force language to Spanish
forcelang_it - force language to Italian
forcelang_nl - force language to Dutch
forcelang_se - force language to Swedish
forcelang_dk - force language to Danish
forcelang_pl - force language to Polish
forcelang_cz - force language to Czech
forcelang_ru - force language to Russian

Example: forcelang_pl

First sorry for my english, im spanish :P

I install the "Gentlemen of the Row Saints Row 2 Super Mod" but is imposible for me to change the language, only shows english, there is anyway to do it?

With the multilingual patch i can revert and play in spanish but lose the other mods like 360 onscreen build.

The multilingual support was only added in recently in the new beta releases of v1.9. You can download them from the beta download page:

If you are already using the newest beta, then try putting this in as a startup parameter:
forcelang_es

^That should force the game to use Spanish, if the Spanish language files are present.

EDIT:
You may also want to wait until the new v1.9 10b is out tonight. There was a problem with certain language versions not being able to display the new hud weapon icons which is an easy fix I'll be taking care of later.

The new Gentlemen of the Row v1.9 beta 10b is out that fixes the new hud weapon icons for all language versions. All current releases of v1.9 have multi-language support. You can grab it off the beta downloads page on my site:

Apparently mine is the German version (I traded with a guy, probably from german), and your patch does not fix my problem. It's still fixed with the German language. Can you help?

Unfortunately, no. The German version is horribly cut and censored and no mods or tools will work with it. Sorry.

I would suggest contacting Valve support and seeing if they can remove the German version from your account and then purchasing a real version from any other region.
