Invalid CD Key?

When I go on to go play Multiplayer, it says "Invalid CD Key" even though I put in the right information for my Gamespy ID account. For steam it never even gave me a CD for Kingdoms or the original Medieval II. So I'm just wondering what is wrong?

If you log in through ME2 first Kingdoms should work.

It's probably a developer faul, because normal the game is sold on a game dvd with a cd code, but they have fixed it now
