The funny thing is, that dow2 and Dow2 Chaos Rising are and remain GFWL-Titels while the new addon coming in a month is a Steamworks game

EA Games will never use SteamWorks. It's a shame, but it's true...

my opinion
Forcing every game developer to implant Steamworks into their games is unnecessary . Let give them the freedom of choice . |

Yes, it's easily the biggest new addition to the game, in addition to more outdoors areas. Check out the trailer here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ejqCZw4Mua4 Quote:

A few single player games already do this(World of Goo being one, buy on steam, steam achieves, buy on gamesforwindows, it has live) But for multiplayer games it just doesn't seem to be possible without splitting the player base. One reason Dawn of War 2 Retribution is a complete stand alone product from the other games due to it being steamworks whereas the original 2 were GFWL. They've already stated you can't play multiplayer with users of the first 2 if your playing Retribution due to the steamworks/GFWL.

Urgh, I just saw Skyrim on Amazon...and that led me to Rage...and Crysis 2...and Guild Wars 2...and that new Ghost Recon...and Mass Effect 3...and Dead Space 2...and where am I going with this?
Well, gosh gee willickers, guess which of these are going to cost $60 on PC? Big-name EA games and mildly-known Ubisoft games are almost expected to sit alongside Activision's overpriced garbage, but it's nice to know Bethesda's decided to drop yet another deux on PC gamers as well. Those NC Soft guys, too. What the hell? (Dragon Age 2 will probably fit among these, too, but there's no price listed yet--EDIT: DA2 will also be $60. Apparently it was listed as $50 for quite a while, before EA decided to dive completely into Activision's price plan.) Last edited by RSHabroptilus: 01-12-2011 at 12:05 PM. |
