How to Change Resolution Outside of Game
Does anyone know how to force a resolution change without booting the game, the game is currently just loads to a black screen with the audio playing in the back ground. Now my default resolution is 5040x1050 and its not uncommon for steam games to load to a black screen on fresh install so the simplest fix is to force the resolution down to 1680x1050 or lower.
However I can't find where the settings are saved, or force it via command line so if anyone knows where they are saved or how to force a resolution change I would appreciate it thanks. |

Arr found it, there are options in there but they don't do anything, the GameOptions.xml file saved in SavedGames\Zeit2\AllPlayers\ only appears after the settings are change. Thank god for laptops.
Edit: On a side note the game does load fine with the resolution set to 5040x1050, it runs pillar boxed but that's fine for this type of game. So Steam must be setting the defaults to funny or incompatible settings on first load. I'll upload or post the content of a basic working GameOptions.xml file when I get the chance for anyone else who gets a black screen with sound on boot. Basic GameOptions.xml
Right click the link and click save as, then save the file to %userprofile%\My Documents\SavedGames\Zeit2\AllPlayers\ The file will disable the two selectable effects, Bloom and Distortion, and will set the resolution to 1024x768 windows mode. |

In order to manually enter any resolution you think your computer should support. You can find the config file at "[user]/My Documents/Saved Games/Zeit2/AllPlayers/GameOptions.xml" and change the following two lines and save the file before starting the game again:
<ResolutionWidth>1024</ResolutionWidth> <ResolutionHeight>768</ResolutionHeight> The game supports all 4:3,5:4,16:9 and 16:10 resolutions the graphic device offers to the game. You can also try to change your monitor to 60 hz refresh rate which might improve compatibility. Thanks your Brightside Games Team |
