This thread certainly started in a bumpy manner, moving it to the appropriate section

It's a good thing you didn't risk your main account and created a specific one for asking this. Because you know already know what's gonna happen.

He was probably just excessively bumping then. Ten points is an auto-ban, no matter how minor the offences are.

So er, why is it any of your business why they got banned? It just seems silly posting this thread.

Simple. I assume there must be some new standard for posts that we are unaware of. This could help prevent unneccessary bans in the future. Perhaps there are now stronger rules against off-topic posts, or something similar. I don't want myself or anyone else to make a similar mistake.

A high ban count usually is a good thing for a forum in my opinion.

Maybe they were scamming people in the trades forums? Maybe they were up to something else sinister? Maybe Gabe came on and did searches on everyone who ever made a HL3/Gabe Eating joke and used the ban-hammer of injustice?

There was probably a good reason though, and seeing how you need to get 10 infraction points, and the points disappear after 6 months, the bans were probably earned and preventable.

Two infractions is all it takes, and people may not know what they did wrong. I've gotten a few infrac's myself, and the reasoning is vague at best.

As of late? Nah there's always a steady flow of bans. Hell I'm 2 infraction points from a ban myself xD

Bans are automated here.

You get 10 infractions, you're banned.

Some mods give out ridiculous amounts of infraction points, too, leading to a ban.

I hate how careful you have to be when you're right on the edge. There are a few snappy remarks I've held back in fear of receiving a ban for it.

Ten infractions? Try three. Most infractions are worth four points.
