I've lost interest in the oscars in recent years. It tends to be too predictable inevitably towards the same types of movies and the same types of acting performances.

The movies commended are the serious dramas and the actors who win are generally the ones who spend the movie displaying over the top emotions (Sean Penn *cough*).

And then Christopher Nolan seems to get snubbed every year... The number of movies he has in imdb's top 250 list suggests that at least the public would like to see him or his movies get an oscar, or even a nomination...

I kind of agree. I started losing faith in the Oscars when they announced "Jerry Maquire" as a nominee for best picture and Tom Cruise for best actor in that movie. Talk about pandoring.

It's almost impossible to watch the ceremony because of all the filler and kissing. Makes me want to vomit sometimes.

The credibility of AMPAS has been questionable for decades, to say the least, but the Academy Awards is still the oldest and most prestigious award show the industry has. No matter how much people criticise it, the nominees still get nervous and the winners go weak at the knees. Some fundamental changes should be made, but who the hell listens to us.

Also, it's an insult that Gary Oldman, Leo Dicaprio and Chris Nolan haven't won anything.

Well i mean i still watch the show but it always disappoints me when i don't see movies i think deserve to be showcased and other movies that most people haven't seen that look like the generic harrowing drama (Usually starring Kate Winslet or Sean Penn).

Hoping for Social Network/True Grit to take Best Motion Picture while Jeff Bridges/Colin Firth for best actor. If Inception wins Best Motion Picture, I will lose alot of respect for the Academy

And i will gain it. Social network deserves no awards and is a waste of the director's great talent

Yep, Nolan isn't down for best director. He really ought to win writing/screenplay though.
