Question do you have experince with the DRM for Far Cry 2 ? please help

in the steam store page it says 5 times activation machines

some people says, it's unlimited activations now.and steam need to update the new information.

and some other says that i can "revoke" while uninstalling so i don't lose any activations at all. is this true ? and how ?

and some other says that activation are renew every 30 days
which is i can activate the game every 31 day without to forever

so which one to believe, and how to "Deactivation" or "revoke" while uninstalling ? since i never done this before

thanks

At this point none, the DRM was removed. The information on the store page is inaccurate now.

Yes, SecuROM is no longer installed in Far Cry 2.

I've run the game and scanned my system afterward for the presence of SecuROM, and it doesn't exist.

Is this true of the Fortune's Edition as well? I know the original had activations removed, but...

The Far Cry 2: Fortune's Edition you can purchase on Steam has no DRM anymore.

It seems like many games on Steam which had SecureROM protection are getting it removed via patch. I endorse this. They should definitely update the info page as I know that kind of junk can be a deal-breaker for some people.

Once a game has reached a point where it's DRM scheme can no longer do it's job and only hurts sales when it acts as a deal breaker for some people, it's a liability.

So you mean every DRM scheme, basically?

Perhaps, just remember: Steam is DRM.

Steam is more than just DRM though; it doesn't exist simply to keep you from copying games and to get in the way of you legitimately using software you've purchased.

Which is precisely why I use it.

I use it cause its cheap.

Also because pretty much no stores around here sell PC games anymore, the local Gamestop has like half a shelf of random titles. I used to get a bunch via Big Lots but apparently their supplier for B-list PC games has dried up.

But yeah, Steam does DRM the right way in that it also protects your digital rights to use and make backup copies of the stuff you purchase, rather than just punishing you for not being a criminal.
