Sims 3 hard-locks my PC

I bought the Ultimate Bundle, but when I try to run it the game gets to the initial loading screen (after the intro movie, with the "Late Night" logo) loads about 95% then my machine hard-locks with looping audio and no response to anything but the reset button. I've tried verifying the game's cache, updating my video drivers and even deleting and reinstalling the game. Anyone have any suggestions?

How ridiculous is that? We have one of the greatest video cards on the market and because this game has shoddy coding we can't play it full screen?

I too was having the same problems you were, tried it in windowed mode, and no problems at all. This is disgraceful.

On a side note, you can disable Crossfire and run it fullscreen by turning off catalyst A.I. Does anyone know if you still get dual GPU benefits running the game in windowed mode? If not, then I guess it would be worth it to turn off Cat AI while running Sims 3.

UPDATE: Disabling Cat AI allows you to run it in fullscreen mode, with what seems like a minimal performance decrease. Personally I'd like the extra processing power, but fullscreen trumps windowed any day. Just don't alt-tab out of the game or you will hard-lock your PC again. I really hope they support crossfire in Medieval.
